The Low Down...
Recently a team of seasoned professionals were given the assignment of tailing one
of the worlds busiest costumed avengers, my hero, Night-Wolf. Their aim: to produce a documentary that really gets to the
bottom of what it takes to fight crime on a daily basis.
Director Kristen Gibson has already hit us with some hard hitting exposes on Superheroics.
Who can forget the award winning "Solar Boy: His Sacrifice/Our Film", and the equally engrossing "Out Of The Superhero Closet:
Captain Macho's Story". I had the opportunity to meet the director shortly before he began lensing (they call it "lensing"
aparently) his latest project. He was staying in Cardinal's Ritz Hotel which had recently been rebuilt following the "Reign
Of The 4 Horsemen".
DS: So; why Night-Wolf?
KG: Night-Wolf to me is a perfect example of a superhero. I always wondered why people
like that got up in the morning and decided that they'd get dressed up in a costume, pick an alter-ego and go out and fight
crime. They're not like us, except that something tells me they might be more like us than they'd admit. In making this documentary
I want to discover not only what makes superheroes tick, but also what makes them tock. Really get to the heart of it...
DS: Have you met Night-Wolf yet?
KG: Yes, I've met him one or 2 times now. He's a very focussed individual; even before
I sat down he'd said "How much?" and from that moment on we were in discussion. We we're very lucky - most heroes are pretty
secretive but Night-Wolf's agreed to give us full access. We'll be in his house, going out on missions with him and - who
knows- maybe we'll learn his secret identity.
DS: I'd really like to come along and help you film.
KG: No.
DS: Okay. What about other people who'll be in it? Any chance of an appearance by
any other heroes?
KG: Almost definitely. I read a statistic which told me there are more superheroes
per square mile in Cardinal City than there are anywhere else. I also heard a rumour from Night-Wolf's PA Hazel Spires that
he might be getting a new side kick. The training would be great to get on film. What'smore Night-Wolf's former sidekick Wolf-Boy
is bound to turn up, which'd be great.
DS: And they'll be villains?
KG: From what I've heard pretty much every week Cardinal City is under threat by some
kind of costumed menace. I mean look at this hotel (he looks round the hotel). They've only just finished rebuilding it since
the last incident.
DS: So you've full access?
KG: Yep, one of the conditions is that if we're paying him so much we'd have unrestricted
access and I can ask him about anything... including the sidekicks. Night-Wolf's had more sidekicks thatn any other hero.
Most of which fell in battle. There was a rumour he had an agreement with the local ophanage to automatically send him kids
to replace those that died. I'd like to find the truth about that. We'll also be speaking to the Chief of Police on his views
of Night-Wolf's efforts. We'll also be visiting Night-Wolf's very own HQ, the famous Wolf's Lair.
DS: Wow! I'd love to see that.
KG: I told you no! As it is, I think we're going to see a side of these caped crusaders
we might not normally see. In fact I think if I had to pitch you what I think it'll be like I'd say: Batman meets The Office.
DS: I don't know what that means...
KG: You will man, you will!
The documentary Night-Wolf is now complete and the team behind it are looking for
distribution. Download clips here and you can also link to them via this website or just e-mail me. Aren't I good to
you?
